The Syracuse, NY, Regional will have a Horological Science Chapter meeting on Friday, August 15, 1997 at 2:30 pm.

There will be an HSC meeting at the NAWCC Seminar in Bristol, CT in October 1997, tentatively scheduled for Thursday, October 23 at 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm before the conference officially opens.

1 Index, meeting notices

2-4 Gordon Uber has an excellent application summary fo the Allan deviation in measuring clock performance in his article Stability (Allan Deviation) of Mechanical Clocks for Short Intervals.

5-8 Bob Matthys presents extensive data iin Transient Temperature Effects in a Pendulum. He placed many small thermistors on the pendulum and plotted temperature vs. time as it cooled.

9-12 Evan Edwards continues to refine his pendulum clock. His first description made up the entire 1992-1 first issue of the HSN. He continues here with A Cure For the Effects of Moisture on a Carbon Fiber Penduloum Rod and Thoughts on a Accurate Regulator Clock.

12 Bill Scolnik emphasizes the proper order for pouring concrete in his experimental base for precision clocks.

13-14 George Feinstein has measure and described the Fedchenko AchF-3 Isochronous Suspension and has has presented detailed drawings of it. In a previous aerticle by Leslie Paton in HSN 1996-4, speculation was the only alternative.
