Horological Journal 1997 12

December 1997

Abstract

Volume 139 no.12

A real scoop this month. A cover picture of John Harrison working on H2! Not quite authentic, it is one of a number of illustrations from a feature 'The Making of Longitude', an account of the making of a film of the Harrison story for television (to be an Horizon Special in the UK and on Public Service TV in the US). Martin Burgess tells how making escapement models to illustrate a talk for schoolboys. John Robey describes a pull-repeat mechanism on an Irish bracket clock and Richard Good writes about the Millennium. Two books reviews, several readers' letters and the index for volume 139 complete this issue.
