  This Chinese-made kit, while flawed, is the only inexpensive working pendulum clock kit we know of, and it is therefore worth getting. It demonstrates the operation of gears, an escapement, a bell, a pendulum and the hour and minute hands. Admittedly, instructions are poor, longevity may be low, and adult help with assembly is required. The assembly process and the clear clock case show what a clock is made of, how it is put together and how it operates. It should run long enough to demonstrate horological principles.
